Trackside

Had a good lunch today in downtown Kennesaw at a place called the Trackside Grill. Right behind the Old Train Depot at Cherokee and Main Street.

Christi wanted to go there because she saw that they had homemade Potato Chips and homemade French Onion Dip as an appetizer. That sounded good to me. As it turns out they also have Pimento Cheese as well, a lot like my mom makes it (not as good as mom's but close), not that Drek you buy in tubs at the grocery store. You can get the Pimento Cheese as an appetizer with little garlic bread toasts, as a sandwich, or on a Burger. Good stuff.

I wasn't so pleased with the Potato Chips, I thought they were a bit over cooked, but I'm not sure they could get it crispy otherwise. The Dip was very good.

The worst thing about their menu is that there are too many tasty sounding things to choose from. I tried to take pictures to put here, but they didn't turn out well enough to read. Tom would feint, but I chose the Pecan Fried Chicken instead of the Veal Meatloaf. It was very good, and served on a bed of whipped potatos with a Chicken-Thyme Gravy. Excellent.

The only really odd thing was the Chicken Tenders that Scott and Susan got the kids off of the kids menu, it had a tasty, but fairly spicy rub on the chicken under the batter. Don't get me wrong, it was very good, but the kids would not eat it. I found that especially strange, because all the adult sandwiches came with a homemade ketchup, but the chicken tenders came with noticably regular ketchup, so why would they not make the kids menu as close to normal as possible.

Anyway, good food at very reasonable pricing ($8-13 for entrees).
